Form 5472 Software: Can TurboTax, TaxAct or H&R Block File It?
What TurboTax, TaxAct and H&R Block's own sites say about Form 5472 (checked 7 Oct 2026), and why a foreign-owned LLC's package cannot be e-filed anyway.

Of the three, only TaxAct's own help centre says it supports Form 5472, inside a corporate Form 1120 return, and H&R Block's business forms list includes it. TurboTax's business forms list does not. None of the three mentions the pro forma package a foreign-owned LLC files, which the IRS says cannot be e-filed at all.
Owners search for Form 5472 software expecting a consumer tax program to handle the filing the way it handles a personal return. The vendors' own pages tell a narrower story, and the IRS rule for foreign-owned single-member LLCs makes the e-file question moot.
The rule is in the Form 5472 instructions: "If you are a foreign-owned U.S. DE, you cannot file Form 5472 electronically." The same instructions set a $25,000 penalty for failing to file Form 5472 "when due and in the manner prescribed," so the delivery method matters as much as the form. Every vendor statement below was checked on the vendor's own website on 7 October 2026; if you would rather not do the filing yourself, you can start a prepared filing here.
Can a foreign-owned LLC e-file Form 5472 with any software?
No. The IRS instructions say a foreign-owned U.S. disregarded entity cannot file Form 5472 electronically, whichever program prepares it. The package goes by fax or by mail to a dedicated IRS address.
The instructions spell out the route. A foreign-owned disregarded entity "has no income tax return filing requirement" but must file "a pro forma Form 1120, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return, with Form 5472 attached." The only Form 1120 entries required are the name and address and items B and E, and "Foreign-owned U.S. DE" is written across the top. The forms go by "Fax (300 DPI or higher) to 855-887-7737" or by mail to Internal Revenue Service, 1973 Rulon White Blvd, M/S 6112, Attn: PIN Unit, Ogden, UT 84201, and these filers "do not use the mailing address provided in the Instructions for Form 1120."
So the useful question about software is not "can it e-file?" but "can it produce a correct pro forma Form 1120 and Form 5472 for me to print and send?" That is what the vendor pages below were checked for.
What does TaxAct say about Form 5472?
TaxAct's help centre says it supports Form 5472 within the corporate Form 1120 return, up to five copies. It does not mention foreign-owned disregarded entities or a pro forma Form 1120.
The TaxAct help article on Form 5472 states: "TaxAct® supports Form 5472 Information Return of a 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation or a Foreign Corporation Engaged in a U.S. Trade or Business within the corporate Form 1120 U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return return." It adds: "There is a maximum of five copies that can be added to the return. If you need more than five copies, you must complete the additional Forms 5472 by hand and paper file your return."
A separate TaxAct help page says "The TaxAct program supports federal e-filing for returns 1120, 1120-S, and 1065." That is about corporate and partnership returns in general. Neither page mentions a foreign-owned U.S. DE, the "Foreign-owned U.S. DE" header or the Ogden fax route, so treat TaxAct as a forms-preparation tool for this purpose, not a filing channel. (Checked 7 October 2026; the article sits under TaxAct's tax-year-2025 help path.)
What does TurboTax say about Form 5472?
Nothing, on its official pages. Intuit's forms list for TurboTax Desktop Business 2025 includes Form 1120, Form 7004 and Form 8832 but not Form 5472, and the word "5472" does not appear on that page.
The TurboTax Desktop Business forms page lists "1120 US Corporation Income Tax Return" among its corporation forms, alongside Form 966 and Form 8832. The same page says that for TurboTax Expert Assist Business and Expert Full Service Business, "we currently don't support the following tax situations: C-Corps (Form 1120) and entities electing to be treated as a C-Corp." An Intuit help article on the business returns TurboTax handles describes C corporations (Form 1120) as a Desktop Business product and does not mention Form 5472.
Absence from a forms list is not a statement that a form is unsupported, and we found no Intuit statement either way. Posts by users on Intuit's community forum say TurboTax Business does not support Form 5472, but those are user posts, not Intuit statements. (Checked 7 October 2026.)
What does H&R Block say about Form 5472?
H&R Block's business software forms list includes "5472 Return of 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation" under its C-Corp column. No H&R Block page we found mentions foreign-owned disregarded entities or the pro forma Form 1120.
The list is a PDF, the H&R Block business forms list, linked from the footer of its business tax software page. It shows Form 1120, Form 7004 and Form 8832 in the same C-Corp column. The PDF carries no printed tax year, so confirm it matches the software version you would buy. H&R Block's expat resource page on Form 5472 describes the form and says that a foreign-owned US company "may also have to file Form 1120," but says nothing about software support or electronic filing. (Checked 7 October 2026.)
How do the three programs compare for a foreign-owned LLC?
On the vendors' own pages, two of the three list Form 5472 inside a corporate return and none addresses the foreign-owned DE package. The IRS rule against e-filing applies to all three.
| TaxAct | TurboTax | H&R Block | |
|---|---|---|---|

Should you use tax software for a foreign-owned LLC's Form 5472?
Use it only if you can confirm three things yourself: it can produce a pro forma Form 1120 with nothing beyond the required entries, it lets you print the package for fax or mail, and you know the Form 5472 lines well enough to check its output.
A consumer or business tax program is built around computing tax on a full return. A foreign-owned disregarded entity's Form 1120 computes no tax, and its Form 5472 relies on parts most corporate filers never touch, chiefly Part V and its attached statement for contributions and distributions. Use this check before paying for a licence:
- Confirm the program prints Form 1120 and Form 5472 for paper filing, not only for e-file.
- Confirm you can leave every income, deduction and tax line of the Form 1120 blank without the program forcing entries.
- Confirm you can add "Foreign-owned U.S. DE" across the top, or plan to write it on the printout.
- Confirm it includes Part V of Form 5472 and lets you attach a statement listing each contribution and distribution.
- Compare the output, line by line, with a completed Form 5472 example and the step-by-step guide to filling out Form 5472.
- Send the signed package by fax to 855-887-7737 or by mail to the Ogden PIN Unit, and keep the transmission record.
If any step fails, the blank IRS PDFs are as good a starting point as a paid program, because the package is printed and faxed either way.
What are the alternatives to tax software?
There are three: complete the blank IRS forms yourself, hire a preparer, or use a filing service that prepares and sends the package. The IRS estimates 3 hours 4 minutes learning about the form and 3 hours 30 minutes preparing and sending it, before recordkeeping, for filers outside the business-taxpayer burden estimate.
Doing it yourself costs nothing but time and carries the full penalty risk if the package is incomplete. A preparer or service takes on the preparation. The trade-offs are set out in doing Form 5472 yourself versus using a preparer, and the main providers are compared in our Form 5472 filing services comparison.
How does Form5472 Prep compare with doing it in software?
We prepare the pro forma Form 1120, Form 5472 and the Part V statement for a foreign-owned single-member LLC from a questionnaire, then fax the package to the IRS Ogden PIN Unit and send you the transmission record. Every filing is reviewed by a qualified accountant before it is submitted.
That covers the parts a general tax program leaves to you: the pro forma entries, the Part V statement and the fax delivery. We do not give tax advice, and we do not prepare Form 1065, full corporate returns or state filings. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Does TurboTax support Form 5472?
Intuit's official pages do not say. The TurboTax Desktop Business 2025 forms list includes Form 1120 but not Form 5472, and no Intuit statement either way was found on 7 October 2026. User posts on Intuit's forum say it is not supported.
Does TaxAct support Form 5472?
Yes, according to TaxAct's own help article: it supports Form 5472 within the corporate Form 1120 return, up to five copies, with any extra copies completed by hand and paper-filed. The article does not mention foreign-owned disregarded entities.
Does H&R Block business software include Form 5472?
H&R Block's business software forms list includes Form 5472 under its C-Corp column. The PDF has no printed tax year, and no H&R Block page we found mentions foreign-owned disregarded entities or the pro forma Form 1120.
Can Form 5472 be e-filed for a foreign-owned LLC?
No. The IRS instructions state that a foreign-owned U.S. DE cannot file Form 5472 electronically. The pro forma Form 1120 with Form 5472 attached goes by fax to 855-887-7737 or by mail to the IRS Ogden PIN Unit.
Is there free Form 5472 software?
The IRS publishes Form 5472 and Form 1120 as fillable PDFs on irs.gov at no cost. They can be completed, printed and faxed or mailed without any paid program, which is the delivery route the IRS requires for this package anyway.
Can I file the pro forma 1120 through a normal e-file service?
No, not for a foreign-owned disregarded entity. The IRS directs these filers to a dedicated fax number and mailing address and tells them not to use the regular Form 1120 mailing addresses.
The bottom line: TaxAct and H&R Block list Form 5472 inside a corporate return, TurboTax's official forms list does not, and none of the three addresses the foreign-owned LLC package that the IRS requires by fax or mail. If you would rather not assemble it yourself, start a prepared filing, or see what Form 5472 is first.
